Versatile Blogger Award
Over the course of the last month while I was doing the A to Z +1 Blog Challenge I was fortunate at being awarded some awards by several different bloggers. The next couple of days I will answer each one of them and thank them in the order I received them. I would like to start by thanking Marissa for The Versatile Blogger Award and for reading the ramblings of a stay-at-home dad.
I received The Versatile Blogger award back in the middle of August from Marissa the awesome mom who runs the blog City Girl Turned Country Mom. You can also follow her on twitter @CGTCMom
The Versatile Blogger Award asks you for 7 Random Facts about yourself:
1. I like to wear cowboy boots! What I don’t tell you is that I also like to wear cowboy boots because I am only 5′ 8″ tall. I put on the right pair of boots and I am immediately over 5′ 10″ (a definite ego boost) and I can finally reach things on top of the refrigerator!
2. When my mother was pregnant with me she said that I craved bologna. She has told me that I couldn’t get enough bologna. Well, while my mother was pregnant I must have eaten enough bologna because I haven’t liked it since then!
3. I took piano lessons for ten years. I still know how to read sheet music, the keys and tempos. I seriously doubt I could play much of anything if I tried (the motto use it or lose comes to mind)
4. I have lost a little over 60 pounds since the day my son was born. I can actually say that now I weigh less than my senior year of high school! If anyone says that keeping up with a toddler isn’t a workout they haven’t actually ever watched a toddler (or watched a toddler bang into the wall over and over and over)
5. I do have a southern accent. We moved to the Midwest for over a decade and I had lost part of my ” southern twang.” We moved back home a little over two years ago and amazingly my southern twang has found me again! (You might take the country from the boy but you can’t take the country out of the boy!)
6. I am an only child. I always wanted siblings growing up and I worry about my son not having any sibling.
7. I have 3 miniature dachshunds. Dachshunds are the only breed of dog I have ever owned. (No wiener joker necessary!!)
In accordance with winning the Versatile Blogger Award I have to nominate 15 other blogs for this award
In no particular order I nominate the following:
3. Lottie Nevin
6. EduDad
7. Electradaddy – Hollering Out My Opinions
9. Chosen Chaos
10. Bruce Sallan
12. Dad and Buried
13. Gina Valley – The Glamorous Life of Modern Day Soccer Mom
14. Rant Rave Write
Now the versatile blogger award rules!
Things to do if you are nominated for this award:
- Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
- Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
- Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
- Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
- Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

Congratulations, Aaron! Your award is very well-deserved. You do a fabulous job of blogging and are very versatile as well.
Carolyn,
Thanks so much! I appreciate the compliment from you! It means a lot to me!
Aaron
Hilarious!! The cowboy boots! I wish I had the weight lost story, but for women-it’s not as easy, even of we don’t eat Bon Bons
Thank you!
I love my boots! They just happen to serve a duel purpose!
Aaron
Congratulations Aaron!
You do deserve the award and I think such awards are a great way of appreciating the work and efforts put up by some wonderful bloggers too. Remember the time I was given mine sometime back, but the toughest part always remains to choose just a handful of bloggers to pass on the torch to – isn’t it?
Nice to know more about you and the cowboy boots as well the hat you wear so often suit you a great deal too.
Ah…and yes, I can well relate to loosing the excess weight we all put up, soon after we have our kids! I guess the running around one has to do is never-ending.
Thanks for sharing and letting us know about other wonderful bloggers too, whom I yet have to check out.
Thank you Harleena,
It was very hard choosing the bloggers! The nice thing is did get two more awards I have to work on in the very near future to honor some more blogs with!
I do love wearing my boots and my hats! They are just a part of me and who I am, I enjoy the ability to express myself and not be overly concerned about what others think.
Aaron
Congrats on the badge of honor! Your writing here is great, and you have a lot to look forward to (specifically, that guest post from me that I still owe you!) Thank you very much for the nod of appreciation. While I probably won’t respond or pass it on (because I’m just a jerk like that sometimes), I do sincerely appreciate the shout out.
Matt,
You are from a jerk! I just passed the award on to blogs I follow and read! I knew your blog was one that promotes fatherhood and in my eyes we can’t get enough of that! Yes!!! I am looking forward to your post! I was just getting ready to ask you about it too!
Aaron
Oh, thank you, Aaron! I am honored.
Monique,
I have followed you forever! I always try to make a stop by your blog and I feel like I am a part of your family. You are one of the people I always turn towards for blog advice and I love your blog and photography!
Aaron
P.S. I am going to be posting your awesome post this Friday! I will email you that too!
Aaron
Congrats on your award, Aaron!
A most excellent collection of random facts! I especially enjoyed number 2 (hilarious!) and 4 (kudos to you on the weight loss! I guess the taking-care-of-a-toddler-diet really works).
I’m honored that you thought of my blog when you were passing out awards! Thank you, Aaron! And I’m sure I’ll enjoy checking out my fellow winners!
Thank you so much!
Bologna is not my friend….yuck! I thought of your blog because you are funny and humorous and seriously your most recent picture editorial made me laugh and laugh!
Aaron
Always glad to bring some laughter! Thanks again, Aaron!
Always glad for you to give me laughter freely!
Thank you! It was a surprise to me!
Aaron
I appreciate making your list…I take great pride on my versatility, oddly enough as much or more than any other trait I possess. However, I’m now re-evaluating all that I’m doing ’cause I’m on the verge of a burn-out. Thankfully, I know myself well enough and am old enough to NOT let that happen. But, something will have to give – not sure what? Stay tuned…
Bruce,
You made the list because I do consider you very versatile! You are excellent at what you do and a good mentor for people to follow. I have learned from you and watching you and hope to continue to learn.
Luckily, versatility gives a person the ability to know how to change and when to change. I am 100% sure you will make excellent choices as always. If I can be of service please ask and I will do my best to help.
Aaron
Thanks again for the shout-out! And loved the 7 fun facts about you! I admit I have to be in the right mood for a bologna sandwich and it doesn’t happen very often!
Thanks Jamie!
I try to have fun and make everyone welcome here. I promise you though I will never offer you a bologna sandwich….yikes!!
