Gratuitous Photo Wednesday

(Where am I??)

I normally don’t make a lot of posts like this but I feel obligated to because of RAIN!!! We are in the middle of a drought in Southwest, Oklahoma. Rain  is an exceptional event. It is the type of event that I will make a post for the A to Z blogging challenge about the letter “g” for gratuitous photo Wednesday (I might even try to make another one where I actually post what I was originally planning on!!!) According to Merriam-Webster gratuitous means: not called for by the circumstances. I definitely know that rain and these photos both qualify.

Rain at last!

We haven’t had any significant rainfall in a while. I was beginning to think it might never rain again. Late yesterday that finally changed and it rained here!! I don’t know who was more excited me or my son. My 3-year-old doesn’t know how to react to rain because it something he hasn’t seen very often. He begged me to take him outside to experience it. Being the dutiful father I couldn’t pass up that opportunity.

Gratuitous photo Wednesday is missing !

 

Little boys, rain and mix well!

 

He went outside in the rain and discovered how wet it was (who would have thought rain was wet??)He stopped to look back at me. He wanted to keep his head dry and begged me to wear my hat. I gave it to him and he smiled and walked outside in the rain. He was now a happy little boy in the rain wearing a cowboy hat.  He stomped in puddles, ran around and caught raindrops on his tongue.

Watching him play in the rain made me jealous. I thought it might be more fun to join him. I followed him and went outside to have fun in the rain. We walked around laughed, smiled and found many moments for a truly gratuitous photo Wednesday

Cowboys stay dry!

Of course, I wasn’t able to take pictures of myself, it was raining after all. I didn’t want to get the camera soaked while I was becoming a big wet drip. We both stomped around, laughed and had fun. When we went back towards the house to go inside we had to  get towels to dry off  before we could enter. (I of course had to dry off my hat so we could save it for the next magical rain storm!!)
